NederlandsFor the fourth year in a row, Actief Werkt! Uitzendbureau is organizing the flexworker of the year election, the Superkracht 2020. Via Actief Werkt! , more than 6,000 flexworkers are working every day. In the coming weeks, a superpower will be surprised and nominated per local branch – that is more than 60 in total. Then Nederland from October 26 to November 1 can vote for his or her favorite Superpower via an online election. One superpower will win the coveted title of Superpower 2020 and will take over from Jordy Hommelberg, the Superpower 2019. The winner will be announced on Thursday 5 November. Ronald Kardol: “You have a chance to win the title of Super Power 2020 if you distinguish yourself positively. That could be because you do a good job, but more often because you put a smile on the faces of your colleagues, always offer a helping hand or because they can rely on you.”
Flex workers indispensable
2020 proves even more than other years that flex workers are indispensable for our economy. The corona crisis has a major impact on people with a flexible employment contract. Een large part of the temporary workers, seconded employees and self-employed persons lost their jobs in the first months of the crisis. At the same time, a large part of the temporary workers – for example in healthcare, cleaning, logistics and production – continued to work, often making an extra call on their commitment and flexibility to Nederland running during the corona crisis. In order to give these flex workers the appreciation they deserve, employment agency Actief Werkt! is again organizing the national election for the best flex worker of the year this year.
Mismatches in the labor market
A flexible shell is important for companies to be able to grow and to be able to respond to changing market developments, even in economically poorer times such as now. This demands a lot from flex workers. Actief Werkt! sees an increasing mismatch in the labor market as a result of the corona crisis: There are sectors where the demand for flexible work has fallen sharply, and on the other hand there are sectors where there is still a shortage. According to the temporary employment agency, it is therefore essential for a well-functioning labor market to invest in the retraining and further training of flex workers.
More appreciation
Now that the economy is starting up again after the intelligent lockdown, the demand for flex workers is slowly increasing. Expected after this year's economic contraction 
the CPB that the economy will grow again in 2021. Ronald Kardol, director Actief Werkt! : “Due to corona, uncertainty remains above the market. As a result, employers are more likely to opt for the deployment of flex workers than for permanent staff. Companies will therefore be the first to call on flexible staff. If flex workers feel valued and if you invest in them, you will be able to count on them again faster when you need them.”
Actief Werkt! has been arguing for years for more appreciation of flex workers. Kardol: “There is still too little attention for the value that flex workers deliver. With the election to Super Power, we want to contribute to an awareness of their important role. Especially in this corona time. They deserve to be put in the spotlight.”
