Anouk introduces herself: W&S consultant at Actief Werkt!

Tuesday 19 April 2016

Recruitment & Selection is a profession in its own right.   Someone who knows all about this at Actief Werkt! is Anouk van Thoor. Anouk has been working at Actief Werkt! since 2009 .

Since September 2015 she has specialized in 'Recruitment & Selection'. We asked Anouk about her experiences.

Anouk, for over six months you have really focused on Recruitment & Selection. Has your work changed a lot?
"Yes, in many respects it is. I have very different conversations with customers. Where I used to talk about functions and about managing a flexible layer, it is now much more specific about details, about culture, team, context."

And your conversations with candidates?
"I am much more involved in approaching candidates. This means that I speak to latent seekers much more often. They have a very different attitude in a conversation. Sometimes they are 100% suitable for a vacancy, but they still have to be helped over the threshold to to really take the step. That is very different with broadcasting."

What kind of jobs do you do?
"I am active for one of the larger gas stations, among other things. They are working on a great challenge. They want to broaden their range and are much more concerned with experience. They are looking for managers and assistant managers. Leadership skills are important, just like entrepreneurship, ambition and a commercial focus, I've been to their locations a lot and talked to many people, to be able to match well.

If you also target latent seekers, do you proceed differently?
For the assistant managers I work through Hogescholen. I also do a lot with LinkedIn. Networking is important and is already yielding a lot.

Is it an advantage or a disadvantage that you offer W&S from a temporary employment agency?
The biggest advantage for the customers is that they work with one organization that has everything under one roof. They often ask for temporary employment, while after some further questioning, it appears that W&S is a more suitable solution. Candidates sometimes also expect to receive the security of a regular employment contract. Especially latent seekers, they usually do not give up the security of a permanent job for a temporary employment contract. By opening up to W&S, there are suddenly many more candidates for companies. Reasoned the other way around; if a company wants to hire someone but wants to exclude risks, a temporary employment period can be chosen as a kind of extended probationary period. So flexibility at its best.

We are an employment agency. What are you doing then? To broadcast. That's true, but not quite. The name 'temporary agency' is actually a bit outdated. We do much more than just broadcasting. As an employment agency, we also provide solutions for more structural personnel needs. You can think of outsourcing your salary administration and employer risks, or, for example, outsourcing your recruitment and/or selection process. Knowing more? View our website or contact us.
