Important information about your salary payment around the holidays

Monday 18 December 2017

Christmas There's no getting around it, it's almost Christmas! Are you free? Or do you have a job that doesn't take into account the holidays? In any case, National Holidays have consequences for your salary payment. You can read which those are here.

When will your salary be paid?

Your salary from week 51 (that is the week of December 18) will simply be paid in week 52. The banks are closed for Christmas. As a result, your salary will be deposited into your account two days later than usual.
Your salary from week 52 (that is the week of Christmas, December 25) will simply be paid out in week 1. Because of New Year's Day, your salary will be deposited into your account one day later than usual because the banks are closed on Monday 1 January. If you are entitled to continued payment of your compulsory holiday(s) at Christmas, you will receive it with one extra day of delay.

Are you obligated to have a holiday at Christmas?   may be entitled to continued payment of party hours.

Christmas falls on Monday and Tuesday. Are Monday and Tuesday not your regular working days? Then you will not be paid them now. Have you always worked on Mondays and Tuesdays in the past 13 weeks? Then we see these days as fixed working days, and you will continue to be paid for them. You will receive this public holiday allowance one day later than your normal hours, but in the same week (week one, week of 1 January).

Are you obligated to have a day off on New Year's Day?

New Year's Day falls on Monday. Also applies here; if Monday is a regular working day for you, you will simply be paid for these hours. To determine whether Monday is a fixed working day, we look at the previous thirteen weeks. Because we have to figure this out manually, you will be paid your holiday hours for this week later, i.e. at the same time as the salary payment from week two, in the week of January 15.
