King's Day and Liberation Day are around the door again. King's Day is an official holiday, Liberation Day is once every five years, and that is the case this year. Many people have an extra day off. These public holidays have consequences for your salary payment. You can read exactly what the consequences are below.
Your salary one day later
King's Day falls on Monday 27 April, Liberation Day on Tuesday 5 May. Because the banks are closed on those days, your salary payment will be delayed by one day. You will receive your salary on Wednesday in both weeks.
Are you entitled to continued payment of public holidays?
May 5 is not automatically an extra day off for everyone. That differs per collective agreement. If you want to be sure whether you are entitled to a day off, you can check this in the collective labor agreement of the company where you work, or you can ask your contact person at Actief Werkt! .
If 5 May is an official holiday for you, you are entitled to continued payment if Tuesday is normally also a working day for you. You are entitled to continued payment of King's Day if Monday is normally also a working day for you. Since the new collective labor agreement for temporary workers, this arrangement has changed in your favor. If you have worked at least 7 times on this day in the past 13 weeks, you are entitled to continued payment.
When do you receive the public holidays on your account?
You will receive these hours later than you are used to. Normally you would get them with the paycheck the following week. By manually checking whether you are entitled to continued payment, you will receive these public holiday hours with the salary payment of the following week.
