Breda, September 17, 2018 – In the current tight labor market, flex workers are more important than ever. Every year, the temporary employment sector fills no less than 10% of the jobs in Nederland , which amounts to 800,000 jobs in total. Employment Actief Werkt! believes that flex workers should receive the appreciation they deserve for this contribution and is therefore organizing the national election for the best flex worker of the year for the second year in a row. In the coming period, Actief Werkt! will nominate flex workers per region from the total of more than 6,000 own employees. On November 8, 2018, after a voting competition, a national winner will be designated who may carry the title Super Power 2018 for a year.
In today's tense labor market, the employee is increasingly central. Companies are more aware of themes such as being a good employer. However, various studies have shown that flex workers still feel less valued than permanent employees. Recent research* also shows that employers give priority to training permanent employees over flex workers. Een unwise choice, according to Ronald Kardol, Director Actief Werkt! “If you don't value flexible workers enough and don't invest in them, they are more likely to switch to another employer. Then as a company you can count on them less quickly when you need them, you have lost them.”
Tight labor market
Flexible workers are still regularly forgotten in the appreciation that employees now receive, according to Actief Werkt! The flexible shell makes an important contribution to the labor market, among other things, it enables companies to respond quickly to changing market developments. That is why the broadcaster calls on the Dutch business community to openly show more appreciation for their flex workers.
That appreciation is very important, says Kardol: “Recruiting good staff is already a big challenge, but the next part, retaining and binding your employees, is just as difficult. That is why in this tight labor market it is more important than ever to cherish your flex workers. They are important for the growth of many companies.”
Superpower of the Year
From today until Friday 12 October, all local branches of Actief Werkt! can nominate their favorite flexworker for a chance to win the national Superpower Award 2018. If the superpowers are known, everyone in Nederland from October 29 to November 6 can vote for his/her own via a voting page. her favorite Superpower, after which the winner will be announced on November 8th. Last year's winner, Amine Mancour Billah (32), the dancing garbage collector from Venlo , will then hand over the baton to the flex worker who stood out in 2018. The winner will be awarded a travel voucher and pocket money.
