The payment of your salary during the holidays

Monday 21 December 2020

It is almost Christmas! Here you can read about your salary payment around the holidays.

When will your salary be paid?

christmas This year Christmas falls on Friday and Saturday. So we (fortunately!) do not have to deal with the closure of the banks on days when they are normally busy with your   salary. Your salary payment for week 52 will therefore not be delayed!

Do you always receive your salary every 4 weeks? Then there is something different this year. Week 53 will now be paid separately, 1 week after the salary payment for the hours of weeks 48 to 52.

Did you not work over Christmas, but are you entitled to continued payment of public holidays? Then you will receive those hours on your account a week later, on Tuesday 5 January. New Year's Day public holidays are only delayed by 2 days. These will be transferred on 7 January, ie in the same week as the hours of week 53. You can read below whether you are entitled to continued payment of public holiday hours.

Are you entitled to continued payment of public holidays?

The rule is that if the day on which the holiday falls is normally a working day for you, you are entitled to continued payment. If it is not clear from your contract whether the day on which the public holiday falls is a working day for you, you will be paid if you have worked at least seven times on that day in the thirteen weeks prior to the relevant public holiday.

This is the new, more favorable arrangement that applies to public holidays from 1 January 2020.
