How do you write a good resume?

Have you seen a nice job? Een good resume can help you! Your resume gives an impression of who you are and what you have done. The trick is to show yourself well.   Which jobs have you had before, which companies have you worked for and which education or courses have you followed? Our consultants see many resumes pouring in on a daily basis. They know that a good resume can make the difference between an interview invitation or a rejection.

Your resume is a brief overview of your work and education experiences. It should be easy to read and clear. Detailed information can be provided in your motivation letter or explained during the job interview. We collected tips from all our consultants for a good and complete resume.

Clear layout CV

It is important that your resume is quick and easy to read. By working with subheadings you ensure an overview. Een complete resume contains at least the following information:

Your contact details

Of course you want them to be able to reach you well. So don't forget to include your phone number(s) and email address. And check these for typos, it would be such a shame...   Are you only available at certain times? Then add that too.

Your work experience

  • Write down the companies you have worked for and in which position.
  • Don't forget to mention when you worked here (from/until).
  • Briefly write down your tasks and responsibilities for each position. Short is the magic word here. Keep the detailed explanation until the job interview.
  • Start with your current or last job and go back in time.

Your courses

  • Mention the education and courses you followed after primary school.
  • For each study programme, state whether you obtained a diploma or certificate and in which year.
  • Here too you work back in time, starting with your last education or course.

Your skills

  • Do you speak fluent Spanish? Mention it under your skills on your well-arranged CV. This applies to languages that you speak well, but also to your experience with computer programs or machines, for example.
  • your hobbies
  • Our consultants are curious about who you are. Tell us about your hobbies and interests.

Photo or no photo?

A photo is not a must, but it does make your resume that little bit more personal. If you put a photo on your resume, make sure it's sharp. Use a passport photo and not a holiday or party photo.
