8 tips for a cheap holiday

7 June 2018 -

Everyone deserves to go on vacation. Een Vacation is a perfect time to forget all the worries of everyday life and completely relax. But of course you have to have money for it. We are therefore happy to give you some handy tips on how to handle your money smartly so that you can still take a break.

1. Determine your budget in advance

Think about what things you can save in everyday life and make some holiday money. You can also use your holiday money for this. On vacation you often unintentionally spend more money because your focus is on enjoying yourself and you pay less attention to money.   Decide in advance what you want and   can spend   during your holiday.

Has your budget been determined? Then it's time to start saving! You can do this in several ways. For example, if you are tempted to often buy new things, it is smart to avoid shops. And if you have a weakness for getting your lunch from a sandwich shop, it is wise to go to the supermarket more often to put together your own lunch cheaply.

2. Always check the provider itself

Have you seen a great deal on an umbrella booking website? Always check the price on the website of the provider itself. In the case of hotels, it is advisable to call or email the hotel itself, and indicate what price you have seen online on another site. They can often give you a discount, because you book directly with them and they do not have to hand over money to another party.

3. Grab the early bird discount

You can of course go for a last minute, but early booking might be more convenient. When you book a holiday early, you benefit from significant early bird discounts. In addition, you also have plenty of choice from various available flights, package deals and hotels. This way you can book a trip that meets your wishes more than a last-minute one. Often you do not have to pay the full price immediately, so you can just wait for your holiday money.

4. Check the travel dates first

Before requesting days off at work, it is smart to first orientate yourself well on the period when you want to go on vacation. Flying back and forth on the weekend is usually more expensive than on a weekday. Being flexible with your travel dates will help you book the best deals.

5. Avoid the high season

Traveling outside the holiday periods provides affordable deals. This way you can save a lot of money. If you do not have children and are not necessarily tied to school holidays, it is highly recommended to book a holiday in the low season.

6. Take your time and compare

Do you know exactly what you want? Do not book immediately - however attractive that may seem - but start comparing first. Some travel providers can be cheaper. Do your research thoroughly and weigh the pros and cons carefully. If necessary, make a list of the things that are important to you and then see which travel providers meet your needs for a reasonable price.

7. Go on a journey of discovery in your own country

Do you want to save travel time and travel money? Then there are also plenty of hidden gems to discover in our own country. Opt for a relaxing holiday in a nature reserve or on the coast. There are plenty of accommodations in Nederland that you can book for a nice price. Use the same tips as mentioned above for this.

8. Exchange your home

Do you live in a nice place and do you have nothing against exchanging your home with someone for a while? Then this is definitely a nice option to consider. You can exchange your home all over the world via various websites, such as HomeLink . This way you can also build friendships and have nice addresses to go on holiday more often.

A relaxing holiday every now and then is very important for your health. This way you can get back to work with new positive energy to earn enough money for your next vacation or outing. Whether it's a long vacation or an outing of 1 or 2 days: definitely take your moment to enjoy!
