Jawad has every reason to laugh! He is one of the models on the Actief Werkt! desk calendar. The 2020 desk calendar features 14 flex colleagues, each of whom we are extremely proud of, and Jawad is one of them. He has been working for the Municipality of Breda since 2015. Besides being a fashion model, he is also a garbage driver. Started as a garbage loader, but he had more ambitions. Here you can read how he achieved his ambitions.
"I didn't know exactly what I wanted."
Like many others, Jawad wasn't quite sure what he wanted. The world of Transport has always appealed to him. More or less by accident he ended up at the Municipality Breda as a household waste loader. Jawad: "I was immediately in the right place at the Municipality Breda , I didn't want to leave". Where he usually got tired of his work after a few months, this time he remained enthusiastic. What was the cause? to the atmosphere. Everybody knows each other."
Driver training via Actief Werkt!
Jawad wanted to stay with the Municipality Breda , but he did not want to stand still in his development. He wanted to grow. That's how the ball started rolling. He got into conversation with Nelleke Houter, training consultant at Actief Werkt! . All the signals were green for Jawad, he went for it.
The training consists of theory and practice. What did he think of the training? "It's quite tough. There are 3 theory parts, and you can't just get them, you have to sit down for a while. Without learning it won't be him." Nelleke can attest to that. The theory exam lasts 2 hours, and you will be presented with no less than 45 questions. It concerns traffic rules, but also safety and the environment and the Working Hours Act. So really spicy!
And the practical part? That went well for Jawad right away. "That was easy, I'm practical and already had a feel for it."

Enjoy going to work
Jawad likes to be behind the wheel. He also sometimes helps "behind the car", as it is called. He likes that variety. He enjoys going to work. "Every day is different and the atmosphere is great. I really don't want to leave!"
