Tidy Works! Better

4 July 2022 - Nienke Stobbe, Teddi van Bilsen

Wherever your workplace is; in the office, a construction site, or when you are working at home, a tidy and clean workplace is beneficial to your health and safety. How do you keep your workplace clean and tidy? We have collected tips for you!

6 tips for a tidy workplace

  1. Falling and tripping are the number 1 industrial accident. Make sure you clean up waste in the appropriate containers and waste bags.
  2. Clear up temporarily stored old paper or old furniture in an escape route. In the event of an emergency, the escape route can be used safely and there are no additional accidents in emergency situations.
  3. Check the machines and tools you work with regularly and store them safely. Agree a place with your employer so that tools are not lying around when you are not using them.
  4. Minimize your stationery when you use it. In this way markers, pencils or pens do not end up on the floor or it reduces the chance that they end up between machines and tools.
  5. Make sure to scan as many important papers as possible so that they aren't lying around and you don't lose them.
  6. Do you find it difficult to always make sure that there is no clutter in the workplace? Then plan a moment in the day with your team to clean up everything.

They sometimes say: “A good cook is recognized by a tidy kitchen.” That is of course money for all disciplines. In this way you do not trip or slip over items lying around and you maintain an overview. The chance of losing tools or important documents is therefore much less!
