Who do you have a job interview with? And who else works at the company? Check the organization's website, it may contain photos of employees. Or view employee LinkedIn profiles. Who knows, there might even be a Careers at Facebook page where you can view photos or videos of corporate events. What are the employees wearing? This way you get an impression of the clothing style and you can adjust your outfit for your application accordingly.

Stay with yourself

Do you never wear a (cloak) suit? But are you going for a job interview with an employer where suits are the rule? Then put on smart pants instead of a tight skirt. The colors black, blue or gray are professional and safe for a first conversation. Wearing something you feel comfortable in will make you feel more confident and show that you are the right candidate.

Apply in the right outfit

Show that you're doing your best. You may be dressed just a little more neatly than the employees of the employer. And before you might even walk into your new employer, check the following:

  • Is your clothing clean, neatly ironed and undamaged?
  • Free from dust and hair of your dog or cat?
  • Do you smell good (but don't use too much perfume or aftershave), do you still have good hair and do you have clean nails?
  • Have you polished your shoes?
  • No sweat spots? Choose well-breathed clothing and not too tight. The conversation has yet to begin.
  • Do you have a neat bag or folder in which you can store your belongings?
  • Is your top button closed? Een deep cleavage or too much chest hair can only distract.
  • Not wearing too much jewelry? Less is more and this goes for makeup too, ladies!
