What will you do as a declarant?

This role at Flexport is all about simplifying customs processes for logistics customers. As a Global Customs specialist, you are the person to digitally prepare and submit all documentation required for the customs clearance of goods, both for import and export. You ensure that all incoming documents comply with EU customs rules and classify products if necessary. You also identify opportunities for the use of Preferential Trade Agreements based on shipments. Your excellent customer service ensures that customers are and remain satisfied.

You can do this by working on: 

• Digitally preparing and submitting customs documents. 
• Reviewing and organizing incoming documentation for compliance with EU customs rules. 
• Classifying products if necessary and identifying opportunities for the use of Preferential Trade Agreements.
• Strictly following the compliance rules. 
• Maintaining excellent customer relationships. In this role you will be responsible for multiple customers and you will be their permanent contact person.

You will work in an open and young team of 7 declarants, ranging from starters to seniors. This team is led by a Global Customs Manager who gives her team members a lot of space and responsibility. You are actively encouraged to contribute to growth and share your ideas, and your feedback is taken seriously and acted upon. Together they strive for one mission: pioneering and innovating in the digitalization of customs and logistics processes in global trade.

• Immediately a contract with Flexport, with the intention of growth to an indefinite period.
• A salary between €3,200 and €3,900 gross per month.

• Travel allowance outside Amsterdam up to €400 per month.
• Work from home options, present at the office for at least 3 days Amsterdam .

What we ask of you:

This is a great position for hard-working, detail-oriented declarants who want to develop their career in the international trade industry. You have the ability to process a large number of import and export declarations. All customers have a permanent customs contact person, which is why it is important that you have excellent communication and logistical problem-solving skills. Customer satisfaction is your top priority. You are satisfied when your customer is this! You also bring:

• At least 2 years of current experience in customs matters.
• Good command of the Dutch and English language. 
• Be prepared to travel by public transport to the center in Amsterdam for at least 3 days, or of course you come by bike if you live there.
• A high level of automation knowledge. Nothing goes on paper, everything goes digital via the one-stop digital platform.
