What will you do in the position of senior declarant?

The Customs Air department at the Schiphol-Rijk office currently consists of 12 enthusiastic employees. In the position of Senior Declarant you are responsible for the customs technical handling with regard to the import, export and transit of goods in accordance with the legal regulations and the customer's order. You are the 1st point of contact for the team in case of operational problems and escalation towards the Supervisor Customs. You keep the team informed of the most recent developments in the customs field. You also participate in the general activities of the department and support the team where necessary. You will be given the space within the team to learn and to bring in your own initiatives in order to develop yourself. You work at our branch in Schiphol-Rijk and report to the Supervisor Customs Air.

Your main tasks:

  • Taking care of all occurring declarations for import, export and transit;
  • All occurring activities with regard to goods movements under NVWA supervision;
  • Supervising the timely clearing of NCTS and AGS export documents;
  • Supervising the stock management of the RTO through the use of PGTS;
  • Proactively speaking, giving advice and proposing solutions to both internal and external stakeholders in the event of changes in the customs technical area;
  • Providing internal controls by implementing customs legislation in the context of the compliance framework;
  • Weekly consultation with the team about the work, details and deviations and making proposals for improvement;
  • Participate in projects to improve existing processes. Take the initiative in identifying and suggesting improvement projects.
  • Preparing, following up and correctly handling requests and objections;
  • Drafting and checking the required permissions

What we ask of you:

As a person you are someone who finds cooperation in a team important. You work accurately and have an eye for detail. You are stress-resistant, customer-oriented with well-developed communication and social skills. You also have:

  • Completed Declarant Vocational Training (preferably via Evo Fenedex or equivalent);
  • At least 5 years of relevant work experience in the air freight and logistics industry;
  • You have all-round customs knowledge, including inspection shipments and preferably PGTS;
  • Knowledge of the financial picture surrounding the customs process;
  • Affinity with IT systems in the field of customs matters and stock administration;
  • In-depth knowledge of Excel is a big plus;
  • The Dutch and English language is well developed, both verbally and in writing.
